Jeff do you know iTunes stuff (or anyone else)?

I just got an email saying that as of two weeks from now, my iTunes stuff will no longer be available on the iCloud. I download songs off iTunes onto my Macbook Air, and from there onto my iPad. Does that mean I have no need for the iCloud? I don't want to pay for this iCloud thing if i don't use it. Thanks!

That sounds like you have either an iTunes Match account or you were doing the free trial of Apple Music. Both allow you to store your music in the cloud and access it from your other devices. iTunes Match is an older service and most of its features are duplicated in Apple Music. However, Apple Music also includes a Spotify-like service. If don't want either service, you need to make sure that your subscription is not set for auto-renew. You do that by going to your iTunes account and clicking on the link for "subscriptions".

Yes, I had an iTunes Match, and just unchecked the Auto-renew button. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't cause me to lose all my music or anything crazy, but it sounds like it won't. Thanks!

Don't you know that the holiday time of the year is "provide computer support to your family members" time? All of you are like family to me, so this is normal.

The one caveat is that if you have songs in the cloud that are not on any of your devices, you will lose those songs. So, make sure that everything is downloaded.
