Yes, we picked it out together and DW paid for it as I was a broke law student and she had a job.

1 month, the time between getting the ring and her next visit.

I spent time looking for a pretty spot in a park to ask her and finding a nice restaurant for afterwards. Nothing compared to the folks that do the flashmob engagements or anything like that.

How much planning did you put into planning the proposal? about two hours, not including picking out the ring.

This was exactly us! Except I picked out the ring myself about a week beforehand, Dh payed for half. I wouldn't let him pay for more, we were committing to each other equally.

Under a week...that was the return deadline! Though she had picked out the style, we were living together and had mostly planned a wedding. Plus I had to track down her father for "permission."

Yeah, he wouldn't let me. So I refused to let him spend that much on it!

Op. Is it common to have the wedding planned out before the the engagement ring is presented if you're already committed to marrying each other?

She knew I was getting a ring because she had a diamond her grandmother left her that she wanted to use. So she knew when it was missing out of the safe. Had the ring for ai th before I proposed because I had put a lot of thought into how to propose and knew the perfect opportunity to do it.
