Bathroom with no shower, only a tub

Anonymous
We have a total of 4 bathrooms and will be renovating the two on our main living floor. I'm sort of stuck with only having a shower in the master and the current hall bathroom has one of those 1950s shower/bath combos. I'm considering ripping it out for a really nice free standing tub. Is that completely nuts? We have two bathrooms downstairs, again the 1950s shower/bathtub combos and I guess we'll eventually redo those, so we have no shortage of showers, but this would be the best bathroom to add a nice soaking tub too.

I the hall bath will also be a guest bathroom, but I think with 4 bathrooms I'm not interested in the expense of adding an additional powder room. And the bathroom will have double sinks, which I think will be nicer and easier to keep up.

Thoughts?

Where are the kids bedrooms (or bedrooms that future owners would put kids)? Are they upstairs?

For the one with just the tub, get the handheld attachment that you have in European bathrooms, in addition to the regular faucet. It's nice to be able to rise off when you are done soaking and can still wash your hair if you want to.

Is it meant to be a guest bath, or is it one of various baths off the hallway?

It would be a turn off for me, but I've never been in the position to own or live in a house with four baths!
