What to put in thank you note

Normally I am pretty good as far as writing goes, but new situation for me. DC's favorite preschool teacher is leaving to join the Army. I want to acknowledge that in that "thank you for being an awesome teacher" at some point. Thoughts? Or just ignore it and focus on the teacher aspect?
