Dreading a networking event

But it's being hosted by a fairly senior "important" colleague so I said I'd go. How do I get through this? How long must I stay if it turns out to be a dud - which it will be? Cold/rainy night - I honestly just want to curl up on the couch with Chinese food and TV, not be shaking hands with strangers.

Chances are, a lot of other people feel the same way. You might find it thins out pretty quickly and then you can make your getaway.

I don’t blame you. I HATE the word “networking.” Brings up the image of a circuit board with a bunch of wires.
