What should I know before my DC transitions to Mclean HS?

Anonymous
My DC has ADHD (combined type) and a 504 plan. When he started middle school, I was caught off guard by the increased demands for executive functioning skills. I want to start off high school better aware.

How does Mclean HS differ from Longfellow MS in terms of ADHD accommodations? What (or who) is a good source for information? He's 2e and excels in math. Are most advanced math classes available only as AP classes? I think dual enrollment would be the better option for him. Are there any statistics on how many McLean or Langley HS students are accepted by state universities? I've heard the acceptance rate is lower now because many students used state universities as "safety schools". If that's the case, I am concerned that the GPA for accepted students will be even higher. What is it now? He's bright and does well but ADHD does have an effect on his GPA.

Any advice on these or other suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

DC had a very hard time at Longfellow and McLean has been wonderful. He is also math and science oriented and takes mostly Honors and AP classes. The teachers have been excellent in following the accommodations in his IEP.

Thank you for the encouragement! Does McLean share any statistics on acceptances to various universities? What would you say the biggest challenge and biggest benefit of high school versus middle school for a student with ADHD?

DC had some major LDs and those affect him more than the ADHD. If I get too specific, he will be easily identifiable, if not already. In addition, ADHD manifests itself so differently in different children that one student's challenge maybe another's asset. Overall, I would say the teachers and administration have been excellent with his accomodations, which was not the case in middle school. He has one team taught gen-ed class and the rest are Honrs or AP. There are no team taught Honors or AP classes.

All of FCPS HS have Naviance and it shows the number of students who applied, were accepted and went to each college over the past 5 years. It also shows the scattergram plot of their SAT score and GPA as long as there are enough plot points to maintain anonymity. They do not parse it out beyond that. For schools where there is not enough information to maintain anonymity you can go to the career center and they can access the countywide statistics for that college.
