I'm getting more and more concerned about my father and his paranoid beliefs. It started with the anti-vaccination crap and has gotten more paranoid. I am talking about believing things such as the Paris attacks were plotted by the World Powers That Be in order to start WW III. It is so over the top, and I am concerned and sad.
It's worth noting that he has always been prone to extreme swings in political leanings. For most of my life he was a full-on left-leaning crunchy type, practicing meditation, visiting the Ashram, starting employee unions for work, etc. Then at one point maybe 5 or so years ago, he swung far right. He was running a right-wing political blog. A couple of years ago he swung again, somewhere in the middle. Starting back with the meditation, vegetarianism, etc -- and his political beliefs varied. Then he started with the anti-vax stuff and conspiracy theories. Anyone BTDT? How worried should I be? He's only 62 years old and seems to be in his right mind otherwise. |
