Logistics of binge watching

When you binge watch, when do you do it? Where is your family? What do you eat? What has been your favorite thing to binge watch? Does it make you feel guilty?

I'm not judging -- just trying to get ideas for my own binge watching!

The only times I've been able to binge watch a series, one of the following was true:

1) Spouse took kids out of town for a couple days. This happens a couple of times a year. I always feel a little guilty binge-watching rather than meeting friends for drinks and shit. But oh well.

2) I'm sick. In which case I try to milk the illness for an extra day. But I only get away with this like every other year.

3) I pull an allnighter. I did this once, but will never do it again. Dumb.

3. I did for season 1 of the wire. Responsibilities were few the next day...

Before it was officially a thing, my husband and I used to get the DVD sets and watch 5-6 episodes a night. And sometimes on weekends, we'd watch 12 in a row.

Obviously, pre kid

Binge-watching is an activity for those without kids. Either you have never had them or yours are somewhere far away for more than 8-24 hours. I was tempted the other day when I was home with stomach virus, it was the only opportunity I could have had to get away with it, but shit, I was just too sick.

Nope. I'm a binge-watching mommy. I generally trade in sleep or relax screen time limits in order to indulge.

We did too! Only, we would get the DVD's from netflix. When we watched the wire, it seemed like we would have to watch the final disc but never had it on-hand when we needed it. So we would end up driving to a movie rental store at 11pm to watch it.

Uh, no. I have three kids. I most definitely settle down to binge watch after they've gone to bed. It's my me-time and I look forward to it every night! I take a hot shower, maybe grab a bowl of ice cream or some unending Halloween candy, and get all cozy in my bed. My husband, meanwhile, is binge-watching his shows on the downstairs TV. Anyway, if it's a school night, I can usually only watch two episodes, but on a Friday or Sat., I luxuriate in knowing I can watch as many back-to-backers as I want and still sleep in the next day. Ahhhh!

I confess that sometimes I'm not too upset when I'm getting sick so I can do this guilt free. Otherwise I'm sadly giving up sleep, which is not working out so well.

Maybe the PP above has young kids. I have two under three and sleeping in happens basically never. But good to know maybe someday I will get to binge watch again.

Our version of binge-watching is 2-3 episodes a night, after the kids are in bed, for as many nights in a row as we can manage until we're done. It's a much as we can manage right now with young kids.

Most recent binges: Honourable Woman, Homeland, House of Cards

Favorite binge: The Wire

In terms of food, we usually pause in between episodes to rummage the pantry for snacks or dessert.

I watched a number of Breaking Bad episodes on mute with CC while holding my sleeping daughter.

After kids go to bed and I'm done for the night, I curl up with my laptop and watch.

ok, I get that people say no TV or whatever, but this seems a bit overboard.
