time spent advocating at school

Anonymous
So far this morning, I have had one meeting with the special ed coordinator at school, emailed with the school speech therapist and DC's outside speech therapist to make sure they're on the same page, sent one email to DC's classroom teacher and anther email to the reading specialist, and then sent a follow up email to the learning specialist to solidify what we talked about in our meeting.

What do parents do with their time when schools just educate kids the way their supposed to?

I am also my kid's advocate and I am on the pTA. I also have a full-time job that helps to pay our therapy bills.

It comes in waves for me. Sometimes it feels like a full time job, doesn't it? It isn't just the meeting or the email, it is the researching and figuring it all out and prepping before the meeting that are my time sinks - in addition to the extra things done with DC after school.

This is me also. Something I have learned is that all people have something they are dealing with... Yes, my plate is full with the my stuff but everybody is dealing with something.

Kids pretty much take up all the time that you have, in one way or another.

Sorry, this is. OT true. Some kids do take much more time and for more years than the norm.

Same experience here and I agree with the statement that it comes in waves. And OP didn't even include anything medical or insurance related, both of which also take up my time.

Yes, a lot! Comes in waves for me too.
