Question about Jenny McCarthy

Anonymous
I know some people hate her because she's raunchy or was a drug dealer in college or because she pawns her son off on whatever man she's dating or married to as much as they allow.

But. There also seems to be a contingent of people who hate Jenny McCarthy because she said vaccines cause autism, and those people think because she said that, many people didn't vaccinate their kids, thereby creating a lot of unnecessary risk of preventable disease. Isn't it the responsibility of the PARENTS to look at someone who doesn't have a college degree and say "Um, I think I'll ignore this girl, and instead listen to my doctor who has a medical degree, and then do my own research"? Celebrities can say whatever they want; that doesn't make it gospel. Shouldn't we think pathetically of the people who blindly followed what she said, rather than have so much vitriol for her?

If someone could explain this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

We can't do both?

She's an idiot and people who listen to her are idiots.

What's not to understand?

It's what I do. There's more than enough to go around.

I just don't understand why people are SO angry at her. If you take medical advice from medical professionals, there's zero reason to care what she said, even if she wore glasses when she went on talk shows to say it.

The people smart enough to take medical advice from medical professionals are angry at her because she influences many who are NOT smart enough to do so.

If those people were making decisions that affected only themselves then few would care. But they are putting all of us, especially the most vulnerable, at risk.

Jenny McCarthy had a very real hand in that.

I don't give her any attention at all. She's as meaningful to me as...an ant. Maybe less so.

That's just it. People who don't vax DON"T take advice from medical professionals ever.

Jenny McCarthy is not against vaccines, she is an advocate for SAFER vaccines.

Vaccines safety can most definitely be improved.

OP,

Unfortunately, many people don't do the research. Jenny McCarthy was on a publicity rampage since 2007 that vaccines caused autism in her son. She appeared on Oprah, wrote several books, gave interviews again and again. She claimed that she cured him of his autism and even resorted to chelation therapy, which is extremely controversial and doesn't jibe with any medical protocol. As it turns out her son doesn't have autism; he has ehlers danlos syndrome.

Vaccines are safe. There's a mountain of scientific evidence to back this up. She is a public health menace b/c not only did she put misinformation out there, but never apologized or retracted her inaccurate stances.

She's been the "nation's most prominent purveyor of anti-vaxxer ideology." She should not be on TV. It's as bad as TLC covering up the molestation of the Duggars.

She's not even newsworthy anymore. Totally D list. Why are you posting about her?

To PP, how typical, immediately spurting out insults and launching an assault on those of us who dare to question. Vaccines are not without risk. Risks can be reduced. That's a fact. I'm sorry if you've made bad choices in your life and are as a result resentful.

Jenny McCarthy has had multiple TV appearances spreading lies about autism on Larry King, Oprah, Fox News, CNN, The Doctors, 20/20, Wendy Williams, Ellen, the Rosie Show, Bethany...e.g.,

This is supposed to be inspirational, however, it turns my stomach. Vaccines are safe for kids. They do not cause autism. Her kid did not have a compromised immune system; vaccines did not trigger anything. He actually has Landau–Kleffner syndrome.

Do you really not get it OP how much Jenny McCarthy has been legitimized by the media?

Words cannot express how much I hate her.

infinitesimal risks... please show me your "facts." Again there is a mountain of research that shows you are wrong. I didn't make bad choices; I got my kids vaccinated.
