How common is raydon found in MoCo resale homes?

Is the raydon remedial system usually hidden or shown in the basement-utility closet?

we recently looked at a home and it has the raydon remedial system in the basement as a long white PVC piping that sticks out like a sore thumb. Can't imagine that's the norm??

usually near the sump pump, very common in this area. Many people use a gutter to blend it into the home's exterior.

What exactly is it doing and when you say it's common, is there any threat or harm to the inhabitants of the home? Humans and pets alike.

It's allowing radon to be pumped out of the house so you don't have a radon exposure issue. No big deal.

Radon. Not "raydon"

That's what the radon remediation system is like in the house we bought.

"Hey Jim, you should fire your gutter installer! They totally missed on one downspout!"

OP, pardon on the spelling.

So it just filters outside and everything inside is hunky dory? We just started going to a few open houses and noticed that it's been in 2 or 3 homes out of 6 or 7 that we have seen.

What is the maintenance for it?

Radon is everywhere in moco. It's more important for he older homes given the less sealed basement foundations. You don't need to do anything. Check the levels every year and make sure They're uneven (blue lines in our case). Ask your inspector.

Almost no maintenance for a remediation unit. The fans burn out every 15-20 years and it's about $200-$300 to fix (or if you're handy you can order the part and fix it yourself). Not a big deal to have one. My entire neighborhood has them.

We had to install this at our old house before the sale. The Radon guy told us radon level increased significantly in some areas here after the earthquake several years ago.
