Will they install weapons detectors in bathrooms? Apparently, the BCC student that was seen with a firearm happened in a school bathroom.

I thought all the bathrooms were locked. How'd this happen?

Are bathrooms at BCC locked too?

Yes, kids are getting drunk in there and passing out. They've abused their privileges. Now they have to deal with the fallout.

Privileges? Pee and poop are now privileges?

But this is unfairly punishing everyone for the actions of a few idiots.

The idiots at my HS kept vandalizing the bathrooms and deliberately clogging the toilets, which is the main reason the bathrooms kept getting locked. Yes, it unfairly punishes everyone. Blame the fellow students.

What's the plan by the schools for the new school year? Are school bathrooms going to remain closed? Should we plan our work schedule around kid's bathroom needs so they can be picked up from school to go home to use a toilet?? Plan to get a doctor's note so they can use the health room bathroom?

That's the problem with these posters who keep insisting on all these harsh rules like vape detectors and cell phone bans. Nobody can enforce any of it and there are no consequences so it does nothing other than detract from instructional time.

Vape and metal detectors would be great. They can enforce it with detentions, suspensions and expulsion. Damage the school, clean it up.

No plan. Dr Taylor is to busy with media and BOE does not care.

Play classical music in the bathrooms. I’m serious.

They implemented a plan in that they closed the bathrooms. Folks don’t like it, but don’t really have a better plan. Are you expecting MCPS to hire folks to monitor every bathroom in every secondary school? And if this is what you believe the school system should do, please explain from where the funds and personnel are going to come.

Gather the community and talk about the lack of parenting and discipline and knowing what your kids are watching online so this madness stops.

Harsh rules? Like don't vape at school and keep your cellphone in your locker or backpack during class. SOOO HARSH, how will the kids ever survive?

It's soft parents like you that are the problem with society today. Be a parent to your kid, not their friend. What detracts from instructional time is kids skipping class to vape in the restroom and spending all of their class period on their cellphone. Wake up to reality.

Def for teachers. I can only go once per day given my teaching schedule and the expectation to stand in the doorway and monitor the hall outside my classroom in between classes. Plus all the meetings during my limited planning time
