strategies for scheduling interviews while employed?

Any particular strategies/tips that work? I can only use the sick day excuse so many times. I also try to come in for the interview during lunch. Wear dresses that I could put a blazer over. any others?

Wear suits once in a while when you have nothing going on interview wise - then if you wear them on an interview day, people won't know if you're just in a dress up mood or have something going on. If you drive - stash the suit jacket in your car.

Some places will schedule you at the beginning or end if the day - so you may be able to get away w coming in early/leaving early w some excuse of needing to go someplace or a dr appt.

Don't be seen walking in or out w an interview portfolio - keep that stashed in your bag.

Also - be carful calling places back to schedule while at work. Make sure your door is shut and your voice doesn't carry. I've found people get really curious if they hear you scheduling something and they suspect it's something important - not just a dr appt.

Do people in your org take half days off randomly? It's parent-teacher conf week at my kid's school, so that would be an easily justified day, or half day, off for me.

My work is pretty flexible about working from home, so I often say I have to work from home so I can go to a mid-day appointment or something.

I've been working early-early. I schedule interviews as late in the day as I can. It makes for a long day, but only in a few cases when interviewer has only offered morning or midday appointment times has it meant that I have to outright lie to my boss (sick day)...
