Good studio for 1-yr baby photo?

Last year when my daughter turned 1 we wanted to get a nice professional photo of her and did so at JCPenney's. The particular photographer we used wasn't good at all, but my issue was more with the package options they offer, their cost, and the poor selection methods they have (viewing poor, low-res images on a crappy, noncooperative computer).

My son will turn 1 in a few weeks and we'd like to get some nice studio shots of him as well. Would anyone mind throwing a few recommendations my way? I don't mind going to the mall again, but would like to avoid JCPenney's. Any good experiences?

We got a portait package and holiday cards at Portrait Innovations. I liked that they took a TON of poses against three different backdrops, and even let us change clothes half-way through. It was very hard narrowing down the choices, and of course I bought way more than I should have, but what was nice was that you could view them on a nice big monitor and they corrected/recolored/cropped each of our final selections as we looked on.

Picture People in Tysons. The photos are always great and the viewing options on the computer are fantastic. We tend to buy a few 5x7s and scan them, but that's because we're cheap. If you buy bigger packages or the pre-framed photos it can get expensive, but I think the photos are worth it!

They are pretty expensive but I got the best photos of my son when he was just a few months old at Celebrity Kids. You could view the photos on the computer but they also printed out some.

We could never justify the expense of going there again. So now we do JCPenney and try to avoid the busy seasons and times. I've really wanted to try an independent photographer as some of them do some really nice work.
