We moved into our house two years ago and are finally trying to fix up things. But neither my husband nor I has ever done any kind of home improvement. The thing we are facing now is how to light the house -- specifically what kind of bulbs, what wattage, etc., would produce the most pleasant, warmest, most "homey" light. I'm a bit overwhelmed with the options out there on Amazon.
It's a 1940s brick side-hall colonial, if that influences what sort of light is best. Thank you for any suggestions! |
What kind? LED? |
What you're looking for no longer exists--it's all been removed from the market in favor of LED and florescent bulbs. |
Yep, I stocked up on big boxes of incandescent bulbs from Amazon a few years ago and am still working my way through the stash. Let me know what is warm and homey in the new style. I'll need it one day! |
OP here, it looks like Amazon is still selling incandescent bulbs? Are those what I want? If so, I will stock up now. Do I want warm white, soft white, which? Thanks for your responses! |
If you want that soft yellow look, then incandescent or "soft white" are your picks. Personally, I prefer the purer white light of the Reveal or daylight bulbs. |
leds reproduce the incandescent look better than cfl. LED also instantly turn on where CFLs tend to have to warm up. |
Thanks everyone!! So helpful. |
I like the phillips daylight bulbs - a nice white. They have them at Home Depot. The flat ones work well in most situations but they have round ones too. |
