Here’s my take. Taylor is emotionally stunted. She is happy with Travis because he does take her back to what she imagined high school would be like. He has the additional bonus of not being overwhelmed by her celebrity. It may actually work.

The album is *primarily* sad songs about things not working out with the one who had “haunted her so stunningly.”
Listen to the song Guilty as Sin to understand where her heart is.
She and Matty had pined for each other for a very long time.
There is one sad song, So Long, London about Joe. No songs about Travis on the main album.

loml and the black dog are joe as well. not to mention the entire reputation and lover albums and tracks on folklore, evermore and midnights.

the alchemy and so high school are travis. i feel like the alchemy sounds forced though and makes me question how long that relationship will last.

"LOML
What do the lyrics say?

Who’s gonna stop us from waltzing
Back into rekindled flames
If we know the steps anyway

Okay, this seems like it could be both about guys. Swift and Alwyn reportedly “had rough patches,” this could be about Swift considering going back to him at some point. As for Healy, the rekindled flames could be similar to “Fresh Out the Slammer.”

You and I go from one kiss to gettin married
Still alive killing time at the cemetery,
Never quite buried
In your suit and tie, in the nick of time

Did Healy promise her marriage after a love drought?

You cinephile in black and white
All those plot twists and dynamite
Mr. Steal Your Girl, then make her cry
You said I’m the love of your life

Healy theoretically stole Alwyn’s girl and then broke up with her. Sad!

Who’s it about?
Sounds like Healy was, at one point, the love of her life."

Or maybe it’s just a song, weirdo.

I quoted you a Vulture article. I did not come up with this. But thanks for the name calling.

Ack!! no-- starting with the Black Dog, the staring line reference is all matty. when he was courting Taylor he covered their song last year at a show. 'Internet Starlet' refers to his current GF

matty is a huge cinophile with black and white as a band aesthetic. loml is all matty.

The lyric about the wedding ring was wild. She writes that she nearly “exploded.”

I think that’s in a song about Matty and it says he moved her ring from the middle finger to the wedding ring finger.

Where’s Travis? And why haven’t we heard him congratulate Taylor on the release of her new album…🤔

Why didn't she congratulate him on his Super Bowl victory?

It seems they don't interact with each other at all on social media - it's probably a lot easier that way.

She did congratulate him on his win. It was televised across the globe.

I know Travis is feeling embarrassed by Taylor’s new album.

Wow!! Wow wow!!!

She’s freaking 34. Not 19.

He’s too dumb to comprehend most of it.

And Travis will say something on his podcast.

I don’t get it. I had a romance in my late 30s and I remember one particular instance when he did something that made my heart feel like it would explode and I told him so.

It is ok to feel big feelings

Yep. These two were mad about each other, and then her crazy fans and the media started dragging Matty through the mud and sending him and his family death threats. Can’t blame him for getting spooked and wanting out.

Taylor sounds sad and mad in this album: mad at her fans form ruining her shot at a relationship with Matty (But Daddy I Love Him), and at him for walking out (The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived).

This is a pretty good list. There seems to be little doubt that her and Joe grew apart and she is melancholy about the result of that relationship. Whereas Matty was shorter and still in that intense stage when it fell apart. I’ve been in both and I understand why Matty got more play in this album.

Still writing about Kim K is silly at this point.
