We bought a heavy mirror, intending to hang it over our fireplace mantel, but we realized when we got home that there is no stud behind the wall because there is a brick fireplace behind the drywall. Any ideas for how to hang this mirror, or are we out of luck?

You should get a handyman who knows what he's doing. Every time we moved and had a heavy mirror that needed hanging, we either had a small contractor or a handyman we use for odd jobs. |
Use a masonry drill that drills into brick. There are special fasteners that are used with brick as well. |
Use a Tapcon screw. |
Hang a tv instead |
It's in our dining room. |
This happened to us. As a temporary measure, we propped the mirror on top of the mantel, far enough back there was no way it could slip off or fall forward. By the time we finally figured out a way to mount it, we realized we liked it so much propped that way that we left it there and placed a Westminster chime clock in front of it. Looks amazing. |
Mason drill bit, appropriate anchors, and liquid nails. |
