I'm terrible at this sort of thing.
I'm buying curtain rods for my bedroom, and want to hang them high and wider than the windows, as suggested online. But when these blogs say that the rod should stretch "5 inches on either side of the window," do they mean on either side of the window itself, or on either side of the window moulding? This matters, because it depends on whether I buy the 28-48" rod, or the 48-84" rod. I think I'm going to come down at about 51 inches or so, but not sure. Thanks for help from the great decorators out there! |
It would be from the outermost edge of your window casing/molding/edge and I would do 12 inches on either side to give the drapes or curtains enough space to hang well. Go for the larger rod. ? |
