Planning on getting it in a few weeks, wondering what people's experiences have been? I love that it's non-hormonal and lasts 10 years. I normally don't get cramps during my period, nor bleed heavily, so I think I'll be able to adjust okay (even if I have to deal with cramping and a heavier flow until my body adjusts). Thoughts? Experiences?

. Hi there, I got the paraguard 3 years ago after my second kid. I also got it bc it's non-hormonal. I have regrets I didn't get Mirena because I started getting more PMS symptoms and also started breaking out and the hormones would have been wonderful to even that out. Now I'm taking BC pills on top of the IUD! Kind of annoying. Just FYI.. I used to have mild symptoms but your body changes over time so you just never know. |
| OP here - I had mirena before, but had some weight gain and it made me stop getting my periods... Unlike many I wasn't comfortable with that aspect. Interfering with nature and all. I suppose I could always get it out if the side effects are REALLY bad. |

Hi there. I got my Paraguard in April, and NOW, I love it. At first I had some periods that were a little (ok, there was one that was a lot) on the scary side, but they have mellowed out.
My periods are still a little longer than they used to be and a little heavier, but absolutely manageable. They were really light before this. |
| 15:50 again. Best part? Unless I see a DCUM thread about it or have to reach for a super absorbency tampon, I forget I have it. |
| I got it a few months ago and I LOVE it. I used to have painful periods but I really have not felt it as any worse with the paraguard in. My insertion was really good too - I took the numbing painkiller injection, which just felt like some downward pressure, and then felt nothing while it was inserted. |
