So, we are dropping our cable package (which is the lowest package there is yet still costs us over $110 with internet included). Since everything we do watch can be streamed, we are going to try that.
We have the Firesticks for streaming amazon prime and hbogo. However, I want to be able to stream shows from the internet (networks websites that air their shows). What is my best way to do that? We have computers that we can try to hook up and stream through but I would rather not have to lug my computer to and from the TV every time I want to watch something. If we didn't go that route, it looks like the Chromestick would be the next best thing and seems like a more seamless way to get content from the internet browser to your TV. Am I missing any other options? |
| We have an Xbox One and we stream Hulu and Netflix through that. |
How do you stream internet content though. Say you wanted to watch something on nbc.com. How do you watch that on your TV? Do you stream through your computer or phone and if so what device do you have to do that? |
| You can watch some network shows through Hulu. I stream Amazon through my Roku, but not sure if it's always the latest season. |

Chromecast sucks
Buy a Roku 3. |

chromecast lets you stream internet content from google chrome.
It works pretty well for me. |
| We stream through our internet-ready television. It's awesome. No stick, no nothing - can stream Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, Vimeo, you name it. |
|
12:19 - and I can watch internet content because it my internet-ready tv has an internet browser.
|
| Roku 3--then we bought Hulu Plus and Netflix. |
| Hulu for me. |
| $20 HDMI cable from laptop to TV is the simple way to go. Google stick is really buggy, and Roku is pricey. And, by the way use a simple antenna and you would be amazed at what you can get, including all networks clear as a bell. This with a shared Netfix account and you have all you need. |

You can get a roku 1 for about 50 and it works just as well. We have them all at various households.
To enable some channels streaming [only select stuff is available] you have to log in with the user name and password for your cable company account. Before you get rid of cable negotiate with the provider. Can you change providers? New customer deals are |

I hate roku.
I bought a bunch for my house and less than a year after I bought them they send out an email saying they are going to stop supporting them and various channels will stop working. They offer me a discount of $10 to buy a new roku. I get that products hit obsolescence but that shouldn't happen a year or two after a product is sold. Microsoft officially supported XP for over a decade after it was released. I'd steer clear away from their products. |
| We stream through a blu-ray player. Our TV is also internet ready, but the blu-ray player streams better. I also hook up the laptop with an hdmi cable at times. It is really easy. |
Thanks!! I think that's what I am going to do! |
