I hate my new bangs

Anonymous
I just got a haircut with bangs. As soon as the haircut was over, I remembered why I haven't had bangs since about 1990.

My hair is now up in a headband and will be that way for several weeks until they grow out a bit.

Does anybody know of any other styling options? Or any tips to make bangs look better? Maybe it's just the way my stylist dried my hair-- they look very piecey and fringey, which I think is the style now, but looks terrible on me.

That sucks OP! I have been there. Sorry no advice.

I'm right there with you. Mine at 2 weeks out are a little better a little longer, but still growing them out. I would just embrace your new mom cut until it grows out....that's what mine looks like at least. UGH.

Sorry, OP. I got bangs several years ago and pretty much hated them immediately. I wore them in a "snooki poof" until they grew out.

I always need a couple days and washes to settle into a new haircut. Maybe you just need to get used to it? Otherwise, you can try sweeping them to the side to soften the effect.

You can go back to your stylist and have him or her thin them out or make them or side-swept.

They're too short to sweep to the side. Arrrgghhhhh.
I went straight from the salon to Ulta and purchased 5 assorted headbands to cover them up. My husband keeps asking to see my hair-- "how bad can it be?" It shall remain covered.

I have been there, OP! I love bags on other people but as soon as I get them I feel that I've made a terrible mistake. I have no patience to style them, I hate the way they feel on my forehead and I always look shaggy rather than elegant.

I just pinned them back and accepted that I would look incredibly dorky for awhile.

Can you part them in the middle a la Zoe Deschanel in recent times? They will grow quickly and you'll be able to pin them to the side or back soon

Braid them and pin

+1. My stylist does a great job with my cut, but could never get bangs right. Give it a few days, then style them yourself.

I don't know what you were going for, but my stylist never cut my blunt bangs heavy enough to get the Zooey Deschanel look I wanted. He also cut them straight across, when hers actually arch a bit--I found that arch was critical to being able to style my hair without looking like my best friends mom, circa 1992. So I went home and had my mom cut them heavier (further back from my hairline), and then angle the sides to give me that arch. Then I was much happier.

Don't know if they are too short for this, but when I had bangs I hated I was able to twist them and pin them back with a bobby pin.

At least you are in good company with the princess...both of you have bad new bangs.
