PGS at GW with Aetna

Anonymous
I asked this at the end of another thread but realized the prior material was a lot to read through and I should just start a new one.

I learned that GW does not do Day 6 transfers in a fresh cycle after PGS. They freeze the embryos during testing and wait for next cycle to transfer.

I also learned that Aetna requires you to transfer fresh in order for the cycle to be covered. So does it just not work at GWU to get cycles covered when PGS is involved? I understand that they will cover it when you need to cancel the cycle and freeze out of medical necessity, but when you are freezing to do PGS, it sounds like they wouldn't cover it.

Has anyone used GWU with Aetna and successfully had the cycle covered when doing PGS with freezing?

Haven't done this yet but my understanding is they pay for the cycle (and it counts against your # lifetime if your plan has that) but then you have to pay for the transfer separately. In my case that FET would then count as another cycle against my lifetime ones so we are paying it out of pocket.

I had a consult with GW on this, the Dr suggested transferring 1 crappy embryo to satisfy Aetna and PGS and freeze the rest.

There is also some chance that your cycle will be cancelled for medical reasons after retrieval. That's your only other way out, but this has to be a legit issue (estrogen levels or OHSS or something like that).
