| I realize it varies by type of braces, etc but I'm just trying to get a sense of the range. Thanks! |
| We got three quotes, all came in between $5500-$8000. This is for an "easy" case of closing spaces, 1 phase 18-24 months. Doctors all in MoCo, most expensive one in Downtown Bethesda. |
| 3 estimates $5k to $5800. Another easy case of correcting a minor overbite and some slightly overlapping teeth. |
| $5k+! Ouch! I guess that makes sense as I remember it costing my parents $2k or so 30 years ago. |

My oldest dc's braces cost approx 6k. He went to a very popular orthodontist who we ended up hating. Dc was in braces longer than expected and ortho blamed dc. Once we had paid the full amount but dc was not out of braces, orthod treated us like crap.
Our pediatric dentist recommended a different ortho for dc #2. This guy charged us $1800 for invisilign and we love this guy. Yes, that's the total cost. He's a sweetheart and is putting a hurting on the business of the ego monster ortho mentioned above. |
| Don't you all have dental insurance that pays at least half? |
Yes, I'm 18:00 above. My comparisons weren't completely fair. The first kid's braces cost 6k and about 40% of that was paid by our insurance so we paid about $3500. My 2nd kid is doing invisilign and the total cost for every single thing was under 4k and with a discount for paying upfront and insurance we paid a total of $1800. |
Lol, lots of us are Feds here. What is this dental insurance of which you speak?
|
| My insurance pays $1000 max lifetime. Son's palate expander is $3,000. Not sure how much braces will be in a few years. |
| $6-8k. Our insurance covers $1800 |
| $8,450. Ins covered $1k. My daughter needs 4 teeth minimum pulled, has an expander and braces on the bottom. We hit the jackpot :/ |
I'm a Fed and I have dental insurance (Met Life Dental). Did you not get the memo? |
Well.... we use fed-based insurance for dental.... I'm pretty sure they have 12-15 plans. Maybe you should look into it. |
This is us. And I saw it coming so I switched to a high-deductible plan a couple of years ago and loaded up the health savings account to pay for them with pre-tax dollars. |
Names please!! |
