We live in a DC row house with crumbling concrete steps and porch. We're considering having them repaired and clad in natural stone. Has anyone done this? Were you happy with the results? If you've done a similar project, can you share the range of price that you paid and the details of the project?
Or if you've had a bluestone, or other natural stone patio laid, please share the details. |
My front door is made out of bricks. We bought the house within the last year and a few months after moving in we noticed cracks on the foundation by the front door. It turned out whoever built this house 30 years ago did a poor job with the concrete and just poured it in, without any "iron bar frames" or wood frames. Since there was not foundation for the stoop, with time it was pulling away from the house.
Anyway, I just told you all that to let you know that I had the thing taken apart and rebuilt with bricks again for $4300.00 Material included. In about two weeks I will have my backyard patio renovated. Right now it is stepping stones that are not leveled. They will pour concrete and level the whole thing. They will also change the location of the steps that go into the playground, replace the wood beans that kind of "frame" the patio for stones, build a small fire pit, and some sort of stepping stones (not over concrete though) on the side of the house into the backyard patio (like a small pathway) because when it rains/snows it gets so muddy it is very risky to walk there. They will re-use my stones and provide extras if needed. I would say the area is about 14x16… I will pay them $11,500.00 |
Thanks, PP. Who is your contractor? What type of stone are you using? Or are they just reusing the current stone? |
Reusing the current stones after power washing them. |
