does this sound like an ear infection? wwyd?

The nurses helpline was not helpful and we're traveling overseas with an almost 4yo who never had an ear infection. Child woke up in the night crying saying one ear hurt. Finally fell back asleep after some rocking and a video. Woke up in pain but then perked up after eating breakfast. Ran around playing for a few hours. Sniffing and watery eyes, moderate energy. Crying again in pain at naptime. Mom rocked her to sleep. Up again in good spirits, crying again in pain at early bedtime. No fever the whole time.

We forgot to bring children's Tylenol and can only find children's aspirin, which Dr. Google says not to give to a child. About an hour drive from medical facility. What would you do?

It could be an ear infection, especially if your child has recently had a cold. Lying down makes it hurt more, hence the crying at naptime and night.

I'd try to find a doctor.

Yes, go to the doctor. Duh.

I would go to the doctor. It needs to be treated especially if you are flying soon.

This - don't do the flight without at least getting it checked and some antibiotics started if needed.

Also, very irresponsible to not bring children's medication with you when travelling abroad. You should always at least have children's Tylenol and benedryl with you when abroad. That wouldn't fix this problem, but please don't make this mistake again.

Don't worry, I've kicked myself enough.
