PCOS - First Try with IUI and they cancelled my cycle

Anonymous
So I was diagnosed with PCOS over 8 years ago. We went through our first cycle and this past Friday the doctor cancelled because I had 5 mature follicles. Of course I was devastated that we could not proceed. I have been on an emotional roller coaster going from sad to angry and today I just thought why not go for it. Our doctor told us to abstain from intercourse and if we do to use protection. My husband is good as far as his sperm it is just me with the issue. I am 35 and will be 36 in December and just feel like this might be an opportunity that I am passing that I can act on. What are your thoughts or encouragement. Financially we can't afford to do another cycle until next year in August, which is about 11 months away

If you have sex, be prepared for twins or triplets. Why couldn't they convert to IVF?

They did not mention IVF to me just that we can restart next month.

I'm sorry this happened to you OP. But please remember they're cancelling, because with 5 mature follicles, there's a high risk of multiples. I think it's good they're being cautious--don't you? If you say you can't afford another IUI cycle right now, could you afford twins/triplets (and all the potential complications that come from multiple births).
