I know there are a million post on mattresses but we are in desperate need of a new one. Any recent purchases that you would recommend? We have a Costco Membership so that is an option. Also, we have a king bed, has anyone done the 2 twin x-longs rather than a king mattress? Wondering if this would hold up better because of rotating?

Don't want to hijack your thread but also interested in hearing about inexpensive places to buy mattresses for guest rooms and kids' rooms. Guest rooms don't get used that much and kids weigh very little. So I'm hoping to save on those. |
This is the OP, we bought my son's mattress at some random furniture store behind the Panera in Rockville. Since we were using a bed from Ikea, we did not need a box spring. I think we spent like $150 on a twin for his room. Sadly, it is way more comfortable than our king which was well over $5000.... |
We're very happy with our foam mattress from Ikea. |
I have looked there but always wondered. Thank you for posting. How long have you had the mattress? My husband will be so happy if I bring home something from Ikea that does not require assembly. ![]() |
Ours is from Costco. DD's is from Bjs. |
I got a Casper mattress a few weeks ago after being disappointed with a Sealy from Costco, which I had to return because it was way too firm. We found the "just right" mattress, finally. I was reluctant to get a tempurpedic because of the lack of "bounce," but the Casper is phenomenal for us. There's also always a $50 coupon referral code you can use. I got a king, and it ended up costing only $900. Feel free to use my code for $50 off if you end up ordering one (full disclosure, i'll get $50 too): http://refer.casper.com/v2/share/6204855896289569151/6261736961373740676d61696c2e636f6d. |
We have the knock-off tempurpedic in a box from Costco for both our room and the guest room. I think the King is about $600. It is quite comfortable. We have not had it long enough to find out if it "tacos." |
Watch out for the plush mattresses. They are sooooooo comfy to lay on in the store (we spent an hour on one once), but they don't hold up. |
We just bought from Mattress Warehouse. Our bed broke and we didn't have a babysitter long, so we were looking to buy quickly and have it delivered right away. It was a pretty good experience. They have a probably gimmicky machine that analyses your sleep position and body to recommend specific mattresses.
I'd always wondered about Costco but then how can you lay on it to know if it's comfortable? |
Literally the best purchase I've ever made is a latex mattress. Savvy Rest in Vienna was a great source of info and options to try. |
I am hijacking a little. We just bought a latex mattress from SleepEZ. DH and I are not wowed by it. Did you love yours immediately or did it take some getting used to? I got soft-medium-firm (top to bottom) so maybe the top is too soft for me? But DH got medium-medium-firm and thinks he should have gotten soft on top. Maybe we should switch.. anyhow it just feels different and we're not in love with it yet. |
We got a latex mattress from ikea which is pretty firm and then a softer latex topper for it and we love it (also its held up much better than our prevous mattress did) |
I'm looking at mattresses on Amazon. I ordered my daughter's twin mattress from them. We need a queen now.
Anyone recently buy online? |
It took us a few weeks to fine tune our SleepEZ mattress but now it is great. We rearranged layers a few times, then I exchanged one of my layers. I started with a medium-medium-firm and now have firm-medium-extra firm. |
