Practice Group Manager positions (in law firms)

Anonymous
I hear this position is becoming increasingly common in BigLaw. Anyone have any insight into salary? I understand most prefer JD so wondering if leaving associate position for what I am assuming is a more sane schedule is feasible.

Do you have relevant work experience? A practice group manager is going to be more about management than about law practice, so while a JD may be preferred (many of the listings I've seen have actually said JD or MBA preferred), it's not enough if you don't have any executive management experience.

OP, my DH works in BigLaw and says an MBA is preferred, and that management experience is necessary.
