Looking for a guest bed for occasional use with three goals:
Comfort for ILs and my parents as they will be the primary users... Older folls, you know, i would like for them to be comfortable, not a college kid crash pad. We like them ![]() The rest of the time we'll be using the room for catch-all... Christmas gifts, sewing/craft projects, etc. So I don't want a full size bed (Q, K not possible) limiting other activites. Don't want to spend a ton, but understanding comfort and durability will increase price somewhat. We are viewing this as an investment, but would hate to make a PB level investment only to realize it's a sucky uncomfortable bed! Suggestions? Not opposed to murphy or sofa beds, as long as it really is reasonably comfortable for kind loving grandparents in their 70's! |
We ordered a bed and matching nightstands for our basement guestroom online from Home Decorators. Used a coupon and got free shipping. It's definitely not heirloom furniture, but it was solidly built and works just fine for occasional use. The bed we bought is no longer available but there are lots of different styles - http://www.homedecorators.com/furniture/bedroom/beds/#p=1&rows=150
Good luck! |
Absolutely look for mattresses on Amazon - less than 500 and excellent reviews. IKEA for furniture. Done. |
We bought our guest bed frame on Overstock. It's great. |
Costco online |
I second Ikea for frame because the frame does no not effect comfort. I have a metal frame (SVELVIK) that, in my opioion, looks really nice. I recommend getting a mattress from Costco (if you are comfortable driving a mattress on your roof) because it was one of the few places I could get a decent mattress without paying for box spring, which is not used in Ikea frames. |
OP, I have bought two of these:http://www.amazon.com/SmartBase-Mattress-Foundation-Platform-Replacement/dp/B006MIUM20/ref=sr_1_1?s=furniture&ie=UTF8&qid=1445135699&sr=1-1&keywords=bed+frame
I love them, I put a bedskirt and cute headboard and they look like any other bed. The storage space underneath the frame is great! I bought a foam mattress and it also works great! |
