| Or Christopher Newport University? |
| I am from a different locale and no, I had heard of neither of them before I came here. |
| No. I hadn't until I moved here. I have lived here for 15 years and just have been hearing about Christopher Newport in the last year. I met a couple of kids from my church that go there. They seemed to like it a lot and were really solid young adults. |
| I've never heard of Christopher Newport University in the 15 years I've been living in Virginia. A couple of people from my high school graduating class on Long Island went to JMU. |
| I grew up in Maryland and knew some people who went to JMU. I remember seeing signs for CNU on the way to the beach. |
I have lived in VA for 9 years and never heard of Christopher Newport U until I read this post! And, I doubt anyone outside the DC/MD/VA area has heard of JMU. Of course, I had never heard of Hampton Sydney, either. |
| Are you serious? I went to JMU. I am not from Virginia and there were tons of kids from NJ and NY there. We also had numerous West Coast kids too. Of course it's primarily kids from VA but you have to be joking if you think only people from VA have heard of it. |
| CNU definitely not. jMU might have some awareness in the mid-Atlantic. |
| Nope. Never heard of either until we lived in VA for about 8 years. Then my friends kids started applying to these schools. |
| I hadn't even heard of CNU until my own kids started the college app process and some classmates were discussing applying there. I had also not heard of JMU until I moved to Virginia. |
| Never heard of Christopher Newport, but have definitely heard of JMU. But I am from LI, and it seems like kids from NY/NJ go everywhere (perhaps because our in state options are not that exciting.) So I knew classmates who went to JMU, William & Mary, UMD, Delaware, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn, etc. |
| A similar statement can be made about schools--actually, most schools, all across the country. |
| They are regional schools - so mostly just known in local region. |
|
If anyone outside of VA had not heard of JMU, they wouldn’t have any out of state students.
They do. That is the answer to your question. Seriously. |
So some people have heard of it obviously, but it's not well known outside of this region. |
