| Is 4 hours on high equivalent to 8 hours on low (if the recipe was for low)? I'm about to cook a beef stew, and wondering if it can be ready for dinner tonight or I should just wait until tomorrow. |

I believe it would cook the meat thoroughly, but I think you would lose some of the flavor that comes with a slower cook. I'd vote for tomorrow. It will be cooler tomorrow--perfect beef stew weather!
