What parental controls do you use for the internet

Anonymous
I'm looking for something that blocks inappropriate content, not just screen time. Is there one filtering system that will filter content across all web browsers and you tube?

The main control we have is that the computers and laptops are in the family room/kitchen area. Other than nothing. Has not been a problem.

Yes, but my daughter is 11 and I'm starting to leave her home alone for short periods of time.

None.

Change the wii-fi code before you leave.

Are there any programs you can buy for I-pads, kindle pads etc. that would put restrictions on the internet?

What do you worry about that your 11 year old will do?

Norton premium has the family controls and you can use al of it including anti virus on tablets. It allows you to block certain types of websites like porn, gambling, etc,etc.....you can block specifc sites, you can limit on line time and set the hours during which it can be used. There is more to it, but I'm just a beginner with it. Onlt the norton premium has the family controls.

I don't use anything. Every now and then I take a look at the history, so far nothing too out of ordinary. Child is 8. Does not use social media. The other day he asked me what masturbation meant, apparently he had heard it in a song. I told him.

Mobicip

I don't allow safari on their ipads and youtube only through youtube kids. I am thinking of using mobicip for my 9.5 year old since she says that she needs a search engine in school sometimes.

To answer the title, none. To answer the question in your post, no idea. We don't use parental controls/blocking software, just a standard antivirus.

I'm watching this thread with interest though to see what others do.

The other day she was watching videos on YouTube and one of the videos had Demi Levato grinding around on a bed in pseudo bondage gear. Would be nice if there was a way to block this sort of thing.

Kids will find a way to get around parental control filters if they are really curious--or will watch things at friend's houses.
