MIL doesn't distraught daughter is dating a black guy

Anonymous
MIL is absolutely distraught her daughter is dating a black, college athlete turned successful financier.

Her sole objection is the fact that he is black. She is not speaking to SIL.

We're so horrified at her reaction.

Thank you for sharing. We're all horrified at her reaction with you. Best of luck to the daughter (your SIL?). And of course, to the black guy.

Lucky you! You're not your DH, so it's not your problem.

Take this advice: stay out of the way. There is no way to win or to come out as a savior in this conflict.

Let MIL and SIL battle it out on their own.

MYOB! It's not eve your DH's problem. He should let MIL and SIL work it out themselves.

Tell your MIL, 60s are calling and want their prejudice back.

OP wants a pat on the back for her outrage.

It's interesting that she has to point out that he's a financier. Sounds like OP would have no qualms about being distraught if her daughter were dating an auto mechanic.

Many people in my family would have the same reaction, sadly. They're from Western Europe and racism runs deep there.
You never know how prejudiced people can act until you trigger them.

I would ignore all rants and tell her that her racism is making her look like a fool.

Well, when the rest of you warmly welcome and include him (assuming he's a great guy), your MIL can decide if this is the hill she wants to die on (alone). Could MIL be doing it for attention? I would ignore all of her BS and not waste my breath trying to convince her how ridiculous she is.

and black...

Seriously, OP, so what? I'm sure she'll get over it.

Yes it's horrible. Not your problem. So not your problem.

OP is clearly relishing her feelings of vast moral superiority over her MIL.

Nope its not. I am not saying anything. MIL has tried to summon dh to her side so they can convince SIL to stop dating him.

DH hasnt spoken to MIL in a week.
