The Trump Women and their Fashion Mishaps - Part Three

Anonymous
All eyes were already going to be on Trump to see what shade on concealer he is using on his hands and whether or not his ankles will fit in his shoes. No way to distract from that - other than by wearing an enormous purple hat!

With Charles and Camilla, there's a blue theme going on. Melania's suit reads as very dark blue in this photo, Trump's is clearly navy, and then Chuck and Cam in lighter shades:

The hat though, OMG the hat. I think Melania just really loves this look, loves being able to shield half her face from cameras at an official event, and also probably likes trolling people. If her husband wasn't the worst thing to happen to American politics, I would find her amusing.

The hat is NOT good. And for some reason she kept it on inside, even though all of the royal ladies took theirs off. It looks even more ridiculous indoors.

Just curious... Are women expected to take their hats off indoors in the UK? Is there any royal protocol about when they can keep them on or need to remove them?

The shades really add to the creepiness.

The giant raincoat and sunglasses together remind me of the National Guardsmen in camouflage uniforms underneath high visibility vests.

"Melania's hat is not by chance," said Marian Kwei, a celebrity stylist and Vogue contributor

"The hat with the wide brim that hides her face is pointing to a stance where she wants all eyes on her husband and his agenda while here," she added.

I maintain my analysis that to Melania clothes are armour: the crazy hats, the coats, the military style jackets, are all meant to create distance and send a message: don’t touch me.

It reads extra large nipple to me, maybe to go with the boob she brought.

I wonder where Camilla got that broach. The Queen apparently wore a broach that was a gift from the Obamas the last time Trump visited.

This could be. I read a theory here or elsewhere that her "I don't really care" jacket was a message to Don the Con. Hard to say because it was also a fascist Italian message, and she would know that being from Slovenia.

Kate looks lovely, at least!

...why is she dressed like the neighborhood pervert

It's a Burberry trench. Love it.

I love a Burberry trench but why is this SO LONG? Is it like the black tie version? I've never seen one longer than calf-length, and it looks terrible. Mid calf would have been fine.

That's a good question. The Queen did wear hats indoors but I believe they all always take theirs off for these events... Maybe it's the type of hat or type of event?

Anonymous wrote:Omg both of her black outfits are fine this thread isn’t fun any more. Usha Vance is boring and more or less appropriate. There’s no story there.

No. The pleather skirt and heels are not appropriate and I have done plenty of stints defending Usha Vance. She’s not an idiot. She understood serious apparel interviewing for firms and going to events when Chua and the other mofos were helping launch her turd of a husband.

Appropriate dress is in fact a serious part of the VP and spouse job. They do attend so many funerals and make so many appearances with the stated goal of acknowledging tragedy and offering support. It’s an a—-ole move to just fling on anything, especially when it’s not just some cheap drab mourning drag from JC Penney.
There is intent there and it’s hard to not read it as an eff-you from her to people that don’t deserve that callousness.

So, a couple things.

Regarding the part of your post I bolded: That's what's crazy. No idea where the black caplet dress she wore when JD escorted Erika Kirk back to DC was from. But the pleather number to Minnesota was NOT cheap crap from Penney's. It was Shoshanna!

Now, I went to go look on the Shoshanna website to get the exact cost but it looks past season. There's a similar version in navy retailing for about $500. In googling "Usha Vance Shoshanna dress" I found this article:

https://wwd.com/fashion-news/fashion-scoops/usha-vance-stylist-kennedy-center-shoshanna-new-york-1237915979/

...Usha HAS a stylist which is truly the most "WTF" thing I have read in a long time.

Would this be the dress?

I'm still not keen on leather or fake leather for a memorial

It looks so damned cheap. I know it sold for $500 but the materials. Yikes.

$500 is kind of cheap. You wouldn't get real leather PLUS a fashion label for that. I think the dress is cute for a different occasion as fun twist on the basic black dress -- but comes off as too "fun" for a funeral for a bunch of dead little kids gunned down in a church.

Honestly I’m happy for her because the only day you can wear a floor length raincoat is when it’s rainy looking but not actually raining and today was perfect for it!

My mom grew up back in the day when women were expected to wear hats at outdoor events. Famously, Jackie Kennedy invented the pillbox hat because she did not like hats and didn't want to wreck her hair, so asked for a smaller hat. Because in the 50s, it was not "proper" for a woman to go out without a hat on. (My mom's college required hat and gloves if you were going to be off campus in town in 1952 and they would get demerits if they forgot them.) I think the British protocol is just hold-over from that time (like their hosery rules). Maybe Kate will dump it when it's her turn to set such rules -- I don't think she's a huge hat fan.
In short -- it is weird to keep the hat on indoors, and I don't think anyone does that.

The purple hamburgler hat is awful (in part because that is just not flattering on her -- her hair is one of her best features and her jaw is just not). But I don't like the suit either. It's okay as a classic black suit and might be fine if she softened it with a less severe look with her hair/accessories-- but it's very severe and funereal for an occasion like this. It's a really odd choice, but i guess fits MT's militaristic vibe for the second admin.
