Exercise and IVF

Does anyone know if it's not a good idea to exercise while undergoing IVF? I know you're not supposed to right after the transfer but how about the days leading up to it or the days after the transfer?

Once I start stimming (or a day or two in), I really can't do much because my ovaries are too uncomfortable. I may try some walking or a short time on the elipticle machine, or do weights for my arms and back, but that is about it.

I was able to do my bootcamp class and spinning until I had been stimming for a week. After that I simply felt too tired and achey to do anything. My doctor strongly discouraged exercising post-transfer to beta.

I ran about 2 miles a day until my embryo transfer, then I cut back to 2 mile fast paced walks until my pregnancy test came back positive. Then I ran again, but just watched my heart rate.

Thank you for your input. I read that exercising reduces your chances of success in IVF so I was getting nervous. All I do is 45 minutes on the elliptical (nothing strenous) and wanted to keep doing it until at least or up until the transfer. But if exercising at all can impede success of the IVF maybe I should quit it all together??

13:03 -- I think working out would only be bad if you really over do it. But as long as you were in the workout routine before starting the IVF cycle and you keep yourself well hydrated, I think exercise is beneficial. I think exercise is a great way to relieve stress which is something that most IVF patients suffer from. I didn't do accupuncture, but I personally think that the benefits from exercise are similar to that of accupuncture as they both help to lessen stress. FWIW, I am now the proud momma of 6 month old twins. Good luck!

My doctor encouraged me to exercise as long as I felt comfortable before my transfer. After my transfer he told me to take a few days off and then I could do any non-impact, medium level exercise I wanted. (No kickboxing, no spinning, no long runs, but swimming, walking, dancing, elliptical were all fine).
