| Months and while I do like the work itself, I already feel suffocated. |
Time to quit. You can look for a job where you can set your own hours, but honestly, you don't need to work. |
|
If you need to work, then grow up. You shouldn't hate your job, but don't expect it to be self-actualizing and emotionally rewarding each minute. It's a job.
And if you don't need to work, quit, and free up the job for someone who actually needs full time employment. |
| I do like the work very much. I just find the monotony of showing up at 9 daily, leaving at 6, sitting through 40 min of traffic, getting home just in time to throw dinner together, get the kids bathed and in bed, boring and EXHAUSTING. And for what?! It's fucking 2015. Who works in an office like this anymore. There isn't anything I couldn't do from home. |
| And yes, I'm whining. I recognize this. I need this. P |
Poor you! Quit or shut up. |
|
I work a 12 hour day, which some days sucks, but on the extra days I have off I love it.
I miss rush hour in the morning but hit it in the afternoon. I only work 2 days this week though! Can you work 4 10's instead of 5 8's? |
|
Yeah. F that.
|
| I'm a teacher and waiting for them to figure out how to flex/telework that job |
| You are right OP! I did this for years and finally found a job that lets me work from hone twice a week. Such a huge difference. More employees are doing this now - look around for other opps. |
| So find a job that lets you telework. |
Better yet start your own business and carve your own work hours. I did this and it's the best decision I ever made! |
How long were you out of the 9-5 grind for?? I agree, working away from home stinks in a lot of ways. |
| I agree one hundred percent OP. I worked a side job in addition to my regular job. I made enough money to put aside and pay for a house in cash in a lower cost of living area. Three more years and we are going to buy a house in cash. Then we will live on DH's military pension, and supplement with my modest income as an online professor. When we get older my rental properties will be paid off, and that will boost our income in old age. We won't be rich but our time will be ours. |
|
Being chained to my desk in my windowless office with brown walls is sucking the life out of me and affecting my health--both physical and mental. I have to work to keep a roof over our heads, and I'm vested in a pension so I'm not apt to leave.
Tips on getting through the day? If I ruled the world, all professional jobs would have school bus stop hours. A 6 hour work day is plenty. |
