It's becoming apparent that I am going to need to have some gutter work done to my house, but I was contemplating on getting some "leafless" or "gutter guard" system over the traditional household gutter. However, trying to do research on the web just leads to more confusion rather than clarification when trying to decide which system is actually worth the price of installation.
So why not throw out a random poll on DCUM and see what transpires? Has anybody had any upgrades to their gutters recently? |
My upgrade was going from 4" to 6" gutters. |
We had 5" K style gutters w/ 2x3 downspouts on both our homes and upgraded to 6" K style gutters with 3"x4" downspouts. Great upgrade and worth the money imo.
The larger gutters and downspouts don't clog as easily which means possibly less cleanings needed every year. They also hold more water and have less overflow during storms. Personally I think gutter guards are junk. Over time they all clog and the gutters fill up with debris. With larger gutters and downspouts I don't think they're necessary unless your house is in the middle of a forest. Strongly recommend George from Fairfax Gutters LLC. He did our new house. He doesn't sub out to someone else (most places do this) and comes to the jobsite himself and his crew. Price was very good too. |
