Is Round-Up the best weed killer?

Anonymous
Or is there another product that is better? Any and all recommendations appreciated!

Where are the weeds?

In both flower beds and the yard, but obviously I would only use directly on the weeds in the beds.

Round up kills everything and it generally unnecessary and overkill--no pun intended for weeds.

Pull up weeds by the roots. If there is a large weed like a porcelain berry bush, you cut it to the ground, and put a "DROP" of round up on.

Spraying Round Up, kills everything it touches; weeds or not.

We will also be entering colder weather soon. Pull up the weeds by hand. More than likely, you won't need anything else.

I think spectracide works way better. I see death start within the hour, roundup takes days to be sure you got those suckers.

God, people. Sprays don't stay where you're aiming them. Those droplets move in the air to other plants, beneficial insects, and to humans.

Hope you guys aren't pregnant, have kids, or like getting cancer:

I honestly thought this was a troll post. I can't believe people use this stuff.

Most of America uses this stuff unfortunately.

It's no worse than salt. In fact, the stuff that works within an hour, it's basically the active ingredient in Roundup mixed with some salt -- the salt makes it wilt in an hour.

It's toxic. Please don't use it.

Even if you were right, how much salt run off does it take to kill all the living creatures in a fresh water stream? And what happens when a freshwater stream dies of salination? Here is a start for your research: http://www.pnas.org/content/102/38/13517.long All life on the planet depends on fresh water. Do you know how little fresh water the planet holds for all of life to share? We really can't afford to pollute our fresh water.

I would pull the weeds or use plastic sheeting under the topsoil.

From Wikipedia [Glyphosate is the active ingredient in Round Up]. "Glyphosate can have carcinogenic effects in non-human mammals. These include the induction of positive trends in the incidence of renal tubule carcinoma and haemangiosarcoma in male mice, and increased pancreatic islet-cell adenoma in male rats.[11] A 2015 review found that glyphosate may be toxic below the lowest-observed-adverse-effect level that has been assigned to it by regulators, and that its effects may include "teratogenic, tumorigenic and hepatorenal effects."[71]"

Except the PP is not right. It is worse than salt.

PP you can always prove us wrong--eat the same amount of salt and drink the same amount of roundup.

No problem, right? It's the same as salt.

There are others, but you need a commercial license. You may have to mix...add a surfactants etc. it really important to know the plants you are trying to kill, what time of year is best for application and what other plants might be killed. Timing is real important.
