What's your favorite light bulb?

| With all the current choices, I just don't know which bulbs to buy. I'm trying to find something that's warm, pretty bright and good for reading in overhead lights and lamps.Most recently, I bought very cheap fluorescents at Home Depot since I've never figured out what I want, so I decided to save money, and the light is just too white/stark. |

I've been buying these LED "light sticks" at HD. They are cheap - 3 for $10. They only come in 60 watt equivalent with a daylight or soft white options. I buy the soft white and the light is a nice warm color. You can only use them in open fixtures. My electrician told me that LEDs should only be used in open fixtures unless they are specifically rated for closed fixture use.
