Bleeding under thumbnail

A few months ago I stuck my thumb on some kind of thorn. There was bleeding under the front of the thumbnail -- it's like the thorn when in right there. Now, there's a little dark spot under the front edge of the thumbnail, and every week or so I hit it and it starts bleeding again -- a lot until I hold it for a while. It is not healing -- maybe there is something stuck in there (it doesn't feel like it is).
It is such a nuisance since it keeps bleeding unexpectedly I'd like to see a doctor. I was thinking a podiatrist I went to once since he does a lot of work with toenails -- close enough. LOL. Or should I just go to my general practitioner? |

| See your GP. The fact that it keeps opening up would make me worry about infection. |
