Second interview cancelled at the last minute twice

Anonymous
This is the second phase of the hiring process - the first was a screening interview and a two-hour written assignment. This process hasn't gone very smoothly, but I am being patient. The job opportunity, at least on paper, is a good one. It's a large international NGO, the position is based abroad (in a desirable location). Two of the three of the hiring panel will be on my team if hired. The HR coordinator has indicated that the last minute cancellations are due to the panel members' having to reschedule. I know that the organization is expanding the operations and personnel in the country program. Are they are trying to do too much at once and that is the reason for the last minute cancellations? I agreed to be available for the third rescheduled time. Should I be concerned that this is a red flag? Is rescheduling multiple times at the last minute fairly common these days?

OP, yes, it is a red flag. Sounds like this NGO doesn't have their act together. This has happened to me earlier in my career. I would show up at an interview only to find out it was cancelled. Happened to me twice with the same NGO. They were not returning my calls or responding to e-mails. I went to another NGO and was super happy there for 8 years until I decided to become SAHM for a while.

This happened to me recently, only it was a contractor job and it was a phone interview after the first screening and in person interview. Rescheduled 3 times. I do think it's a red flag, but I wasn't in a position to turn down the job when they did offer. I guess it depends how badly you need the job. I'll be starting soon, and I'll see how it goes.
