PIO shots

Anonymous
Be honest are they horrible? I've totally been ok with the subcutaneous shots but have heard bad stories about the PIO shots. Should I ne worried? Also how do I make 100% sure I am injecting in the correct area?

They are not as bad as you think! Seriously.... I did my shots by myself. I just iced the side of my butt for 5 minutes and took a quick jab. Piece of cake. I hope you are not afraid of needles?

hurts less if you warm the bottle first (just roll it in your hands or stick it in your bra for a few minutes) and try to relax (I know, yeah, right) your muscles.. Again, not horrible.

I agree with the PP's. Icing the area and warming the meds once they're in the syringe help and its not bad at all. I am a huge baby and my husband gave me the shots....it took about 30 minutes for me to let him give me the first one with several attempts by me to stop the process entirely, but once it was done, it honestly barely felt it!

One thing my doc suggested is to massage the area after you give the shot for 3-5 minutes, b/c the oil can lump up and when that happens its sore (feels like a bruise) for a few days afterwards. I also found the Progesterone in Olive Oil to be much better and clump much less than the Progesterone with the Caster oil. There's no difference medically, but the Olive oil is more hypoallergenic.

Good luck, its not bad!
