Have you reupholstered anything recently? Cost?

Anonymous
I've got the fabric, but want to know how much it will be to upholster a 96" sofa and two arm chairs. Anyone do this recently and can help me guesstimate?

It's going to be very, very pricey. It would vary so much because of the size of the sofa and how it's put together, cushions, etc. I would contact a seamstress and send a picture.

I had a chair reupholstered for $800 and that seemed to be the going rate.

Depends on the upholsterer. I recovered two armchairs for around $1000 but I found a guy way out in MD to do it (he picked up and delivered) and it took a while. The more local quotes were significantly more expensive. I'd guess sofa and two arm chairs would be around $2K, at least.

Send a picture of the sofa by email to Upholstery Restoration in Kensington and they will email you back a quote. They have very good prices, but yes, it will be pricier than you think. http://www.urfabric.com/

just a note that Calico corners also does this and has beautiful fabric, but it will be the same as say, buying a new chair from Ethan Allen or Room & Board. That said, if it's a family piece or great quality chair it might be worth it to you.

I had a sofa done for 1750, fabric was 800, labor 950. Of course I could've got a new one, but it is an extremely well made sofa and I just love it. Worth it to me.
