Where do you store your pile of firewood?

We are going to get some firewood soon and I'm wondering where to stack it. Would you stack it outside or in a covered area like a carport, inside a screened in porch, etc? Or would you just stack it outside away from the house and cover it?

Stacked on a rack on my back patio where rain can't wet it. 3 steps from the door so it's easy to get when it's very cold.

Make sure you have it off the ground on a non-wood rack. Otherwise, the logs touching the ground will rot and become a home for all sorts of critters. We inherited a huge stack of firewood left by the sellers, and in addition to all manner of centipedes and spiders, there was a nest of baby rats!
