| I am having horrible pms including cystic acne. My last attempt with bcp was not great in alleviating my pms. That was last year. I am experiencing horrible pms and am wondering if I can start the pill pack now to stop the pms. I am desperate. Or will the pill make my symptoms worse? |
|
Youll experience PMS along with the addition of any side effects that normally come along with the first month of pills. The hormonal cascade that create the PMS symptoms are already rolling, so starting the pill now will only serve to exacerbate them. Also, because you'll end up skipping a period, next month may be much worse.
Wait out the week. Start the pills on day 1 of your period. In the meantime, do all the healthy things that help PMS symptoms. Clean up your diet, exercise, get enough sleep, cut out alcohol, start a weight loss program if you need to lose weight. |
|
You can start taking it any point, but it might take several months to see improvement -- it takes time for your hormones to even out.

| Darn it. I started the pill yesterday with the hope it would mitigate symptoms. So far I feel good/better and less moody, but may be psychosomatic. My acne is a bit better but I can feel two cysts starting up. I'm sure they were starting below the surface prior to me taking pill. |
| Get the cysts injected by a dermatologist -- they'll be gone in about 24 hours. Not covered by insurance though. |
Do you know how much ? |
It depends on the office. Average is probably $50 but I've seen them as cheap as $25 or as high as $80. If you're not an established patient, you may not find someone who can fit you in immediately. |
