Haven't read her in years, but you might like "Silk" by Alessandro Baricco (in Italian originally).

Me! I haven't read her in years and my French is very rusty now. I tried reading her work in English recently, and it just didn't quite feel the same. My favorite is "Les yeux bleus, cheveux noir" and "savanah-bay." What are you favorites?
