We're trying to decide whether to keep our daughter in a private preschool or send her to pre-K at Lafayette (we got in). We love her current program, but it's expensive, and I really like the idea of her going to the neighborhood school. I've heard good things, but I also heard one parent say they felt it was a little frenetic. What do you think? Thanks. |
All our kids did pre-K Lafayette. It was a great experience. I don't know what is meant by frenetic? They seemed to be pro's at handling the young kids. I believe they are adding a 4th class this year. That could be interesting as it is getting tight in the early childhood wing with all the kindergartners too! But they already moved out one K class and with the sixth grade leaving there will be more room in other parts of the school. |
OP here: I think by frenetic, they were talking aobut the relatively open-style classrooms and how they felt that young kids could get overwhelmed by the noise. I guess that wasn't a concern for you? |
It's actually not that noisy. One of the Pre-K classes is in a self-contained classroom. The other two are spread out and have dividers to separate them. I'm always surprised when I go back to early childhood at how quiet it is! |
The only complaint I have about the pre-K/K is that the bathrooms at Lafayette get truly disgusting throughout the course of the day. They are only cleaned once at night and with that many little kids...well, you can imagine. |
