I am looking to see if anyone has had any experience with companies that disassemble/reassemble furniture in the DC area . The dresser I custom-ordered might be just a little too big with the legs to fit around a tight corner in our staircase. |
A custom made dresser that you can disassemble? Unless this from Ikea, you'll probably out of luck.
You'd need a carpenter at best/worst. But custom made furniture isn't meant to be taken apart and probably won't look custom made afterward. Have you called the company you ordered from? Maybe they can re-sell it? |
Sorry, got cut off. Or send it too you without the legs attached. |
The furniture store delivering should be able to help. |
maybe a handyman from task rabbit? |
WaPo ran a story on furniture disassembly a few years ago. Maybe you could search their website? |
where is your location we need a guy but only works in DC |
OP here. In Northern Virginia. I say custom, but it is really a stock pattern that the company is finishing in a different stain so no returns. Not IKEA. |
me friend is a fantastic handyman are you close to metro? |
Try David stiverson furniture repair, used him a few years ago to fit a couch into an old town Alexandria rowhouse. Nice guy. |
I had a huge armoire from Ethan Allen that would not fit up our staairs. My contractor doing some other renovations took off some parts and got it up and put it all back together again. Looks like nothing was ever done to it. Probably any good handyman can do this. |
I actually need a similar service. I am having a loft bed delivered that needs full assembly. I normally do everything myself but this is a large heavy project that is bigger than I can handle. I am in Adams Morgan close to metro!
