I am in the process of doing some remodeling in my basement. I am planning to sell my 3bd, 3 ba $950k NWDC house in a few years, in a popular neighborhood. My existing basement 3×3 shower is butt ugly - I viscerally hate it -- but we seldom use it. A couple of tiles are cracked. After the minor renovation, it will probably stand out, but given the neighborhood's popularity, it won't be a deal breaker. My contractor tells me that since he is already here, he could demolish the old shower and construct a nice 4x3 shower for $2,300 (I buy the tile, valves and shower head.). I think it's a very good price. Should I do it - even if it's not critical for resale in a fee years? Again, we don't use it much.
