| Looking for some recommendations for good, interesting, ethnic or not, not-too-expensive (read: not fancy) restaurant recs in NYC. I'm going up this weekend for some r&r with my best friend. We're actually both from Queens but neither of us have been home in a long time and I'm not sure where we should go. We're staying in Chelsea but willing to go all over. Thanks! |

I really love the East Village.

Can't go wrong with most of the places in Clinton Hill in Brooklyn these days. I love Aita for fancy italian and Speedy Romeo's for nice pizza. But there's a ton of bistros in that area and most are excellent.
Most of the good food is in Brooklyn, not Manhattan, unless you want classics like Katz's Deli on the LES. Or... for that matter, good Queens food in Jackson Heights or Flushing. |
| OTTO Enoteca Pizzeria is fantastic. It's Mario Batali's restaurant but less expensive than his other joints. Would highly recommend! |
